Eat breakfast! Your mother was right on this one. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I can tell when I haven’t eaten enough of the right foods: I get cranky about 11 a.m.; I make worse choices for lunch; and I snack on sweets at 4 p.m. (regardless of what I have for lunch).

Here are 4 simple rules from Potatoes, Not Prozac by Dr. Kathleen DesMaisons with some comments from me.

Never work before breakfast; if you have to work before breakfast, eat your breakfast first. quote by Josh Billings
  1. Eat breakfast daily. (Enough said)

  2. Eat breakfast sooner rather than later, within an hour or so of waking up. (But I say it’s better late than never and it doesn’t have to all be eaten in one sitting. Eat your fruit first thing, then your whole-grains a bit later, and adding protein later in the morning; or any combination that works for you.)

  1. Eat whole-grains & high fiber carbs. Go for complex. (I am enjoying sprouted grain breads and English muffins lately.)

  2. Eat protein. (I like protein, so I may be biased but I find that if I eat half my breakfast points in protein then I don’t crave sweets in the afternoon–usually)

What do you eat for breakfast? Is it supporting you through your day?

*FYI:  I do receive $ from Amazon when you click on product links and purchase items from Amazon.

I don't know what you look at or buy and so far I've been able to buy, on average, 3 cups of coffee each year from the income.
