3 small everyday organizing tools that make me smile

It's the small, everyday things in my life that are making me smile this month. Here are the 3 everyday organizing tools that are making my life easier.

#1 - Shoe Racks

When we moved into our new home, we spent some time trying to find a good place for the shoes. We have room in the front entry hall, but we don't come in that way. We have no room at the backdoor since it opens directly onto the kitchen, and we're using every bit of space. That left the space just outside the kitchen (and inside the dining room).

Here's what our shoe area looked like before.

I didn't want to spend a small fortune on a shoe rack, but the cheap options were rickety or bulky.

Until IKEA. I love the look. It's sturdy, and it's deep enough for my husband's shoes. There is another size, or you can stack them, but this one fits perfectly in the corner.

(TJUSIG shoe rack - List price is cheaper at IKEA but check out the cost of shipping.)

#2 - Shower Curtain Hooks

shower curtain hooks

If you're living with the daily struggle of opening and closing your shower curtain because the hooks are sticking, I've got a solution that will make you smile. These double roller shower hooks by Glacier Bay are wonderful. They roll smoothly over the shower rod, even over the extension joint. They hold a liner and a decorative curtain separately so that you can take one off without taking the other. No struggling with that darn ring or having to take the whole hook off the rod.

Tip: To keep the shower curtain and hooks from jumping off the rod, alternate the direction of the opening. If one does fall off, the two on either side stay firmly in place.

#3 - Project Cases

I use these IRIS Project Cases for project materials. These are great for keeping things in order and handy. They're not completely clear but clear enough to get an idea of what's in it if I forget to label it.

I keep my Toastmasters manuals contained and ready to grab & go. I'm also currently working on two projects and they each have their own project case. My bill paying center is in yet another.

Look around you to find everyday items that make your life easier. Smile!

Change out those items that are dragging you down each day. If you don't love it or it doesn't add a spark to your day - let it go.
